The Scouts have always been about teaching young people new skills, helping them develop a sense of responsibility, and encouraging them to be active members of their communities. One of the ways in which we do this is through a variety of fun and engaging activities that challenge and inspire our Scouts. Today was a prime example of this, as two Scout groups got together for a fun-packed day of scouting!
The day began with litter picking at Humber Bridge Country Park with St Giles. This was a great opportunity for the Scouts to give back to their local community by helping to keep their beautiful park clean and tidy. They were able to work together as a team to pick up litter and make a real difference to the environment. Not only did this activity help the Scouts develop a sense of responsibility towards their community, but it also provided them with an opportunity to learn about the importance of taking care of the environment.
After lunch, the Scouts then went orienteering with St Martins at East Park. This was a fun and challenging activity that required the Scouts to use their map-reading skills to navigate their way around the park. They had to work together as a team, communicating effectively and supporting each other as they searched for the various markers. This activity not only helped the Scouts develop their map-reading and navigation skills, but it also taught them about the importance of teamwork and communication.
Overall, it was a fantastic day of scouting, filled with fun, adventure, and opportunities to learn and grow. It was great to see the Scouts working together, making new friends, and challenging themselves in new and exciting ways. These types of activities are just some of the many ways in which the Scouts help young people develop skills for life. From building confidence and resilience to learning new skills and giving back to the community, there are so many benefits to being a part of the Scouts.
