Recruitment starts with you!

Untitled

Every group across the district could do with more help.

The district is currently running a social media recruitment campaign, which has seen some success. Please take the time to share the social media posts to your external facing social media pages to help us reach further and engage more volunteers.

The district team alone cannot find all the volunteers that are needed so please help us by spreading the word. There are some brilliant recruitment resources on scouts.org.uk to help with  any group or section with this.

Think about how we talk when we are trying to recruit. What does the word Leader mean to you? What does it mean to people that are not in Scouting? Try using none scouting terms like adult helper, volunteer, supporter, etc. You will notice on the HQ website the term Leader rarely appears in its recruitment documentation.

Working as a whole we can reach more people, the aim its to engage with more potential volunteers, while your group may have opened up a conversation with a potential volunteer, have a think is your group the right place for them? DO they have to travel a long way, do they pass other groups on the way? While you may need the help we could also lose a volunteer all together if volunteering becomes difficult or costly for them. Working together we can help each other.

Good luck with recruitment and hopefully the above will help you all find extra adults.
