Arrow Competition

Arrow Competition

Sixteen teams of cubs took part in a day filled with activities and excitement at Melton Bottoms.

The teams undertook a number of challenges throughout the day which included tent pitching, firelighting and cooking, mini pioneering code breaking, shelter building, camp safety and an obstacle course.

The aim was not just to complete the task, but to work with the young people in your team to achieve the best result, All of the bases gave points for teamwork and leadership and encouraged the young people to work together on the task in hand.

Additionally, there was an Archery competition held throughout the day which saw teams competing throughout the day for the title of being the best Archers too.

Whilst the day was focused on working together, there has to be a winner at the end of it. The winners this year were the Woody Woodpeckers from St Margarets of Scotland Cubs who beat the Bentleys from St John Newland by only four points, so certainly not an easy win.

Next year's event will be held at Melton on 23 September with more information being released nearer to the time.
