Hull Pride 2023

Saturday 29th July 2023

Join up with Humberside County Scouts as we take on Hull Pride 2023!

Show your colours at Hull Pride 2023!

Join up with Humberside County as we take on Hull Pride 2023! We will be in the parade, showing our support for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Come along either as an individual or bring your whole section/group.

Squirrels to Scouts MUST be supervised by adults at the appropriate ratio. This can be leaders, parents or other volunteers. Explorers may attend unaccompanied.

Parade

We will be meeting at 9:45am at Table Sculpture, What2Words location ///pool.nail.custom. We will form into the parade at 10:30, ready to leave at 11.

The route:

We leave Wellington Street, left onto and up Humber St, right onto Humber Dock St. towards the new footbridge moving across from the road onto the slip way up to the Murdoch Connection and then following stewards safety instructions, we “pulse” across the bridge a few at a time. Once on the other side using the access slope to move down on to Princes Dock Street we head towards Whitefriargate. Left towards the crossing over Carr Lane and once safely across head towards Paragon St. on the other side of Queen Victoria Square. Along Paragon St on the road towards the Cenotaph where there is an opportunity, as in previous years, to lay a wreath for fallen LGBTQIA+ folk (police cadets will be there to help). Pass peacefully behind the Cenotaph and head onto Jameson Street, right towards King Edward Square where we finish. You are then welcome to head back into the event space which includes:

King Edward Street, Queen Victoria Square, Savile Street (including above Monroe’s), Princes Dock St, Princes Quay (“Queer Joy” in the event space) and Zebedee’s Yard.

What you need to do:

Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs, please bring bubbles! We want you to blow as many bubbles as you can during the parade!

Scouts and Explorers, we need you to give out as many recruitment, information cards as possible. We need more volunteers allowing us to take on more Scouts.

Leaders and volunteers, we need you to bring your enthusiasm as we parade through the city.

A few reminders:

Wear bright, colourful clothing and don't forget your necker! It can be your Group, District, County or a Pride necker
If it's hot, don't forget suncream!
Please bring a small bag with a water bottle
Remember that Squirrels to Scouts must be in ratio. Explorers can attend unaccompanied
Please ensure you have a printed/paper copy of emergency contacts and medical details for any young people or adults attending. I will need a physical copy of this on the day
The County event is the parade only. After the parade, either parents/ guardians will need to meet their Scouts (if they're not joining us in the parade), leaders will need to take responsibility for them or with parental consent, they can go around unaccompanied. Please manage this at a group level
