Arrow Competition

Saturday, 29th September 2018
10:30am-5pm

Cubs from across the district take part in various bases during the day, working together to achieve their best at a number of activities and challenges.

Teams of between three and five Cub Scouts will compete and a pack can enter as many teams as it wishes. Don’t worry if your Cub Scouts don’t have the skills to complete all the bases – we’ll use the base to teach them, they will still get points for team work and trying hard. We will make up mixed teams on the day if you don’t have enough Cubs to make up a full team; any Young Person that turns up will get to take part!

The Arrow Competition will be based on all areas of the Cub Scout programme but with the emphasis on outdoor
scouting. The bases this year will be:

  • Tent pitching (please bring a hike tent)
  • Firelighting and cooking (toast or mallows)
  • A team challenge
  • Obstacle course
  • Orienteering
  • Pack a Rucksack
  • Kims Game
  • Promise
  • First Aid

OVERNIGHT CAMPING

If your pack wishes to camp over after the event then they are welcome to do so. Please inform Clare White that you plan to stay, usual camping fees apply. There will be a limited number of beds available in the lodge at a cost of £2.50 night, and bunks will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you do not have a camping permit – please get in touch and we will try to make sure you can still stay over.

Friday night from 7.30pm all leaders and family are welcome to come for a part social, part setup evening, we’ll prepare some of the bases, but otherwise bring some cake and lemonade. On Saturday morning, bacon butties will be provided for breakfast.
