District Growth

District Growth

We are delighted to shout about the growth within Scouting in Hull over the last eighteen months. Over this period, we have opened twelve new sections and relaunched four others that were struggling, either with the number of young people, or had a lack of adult volunteers within the sections, making it dicfficult for them to run.

The project was part of the Youth United Foundation and focussed on developing Scouting in areas of deprivation across the city and the old Humberside County area. Scouting in Hull was very fortunate to receive a lot of support and funding and with the help of our headquarters colleagues, have made a significant difference to Scouting in Hull.

New groups opened include

  • Craven Lea scout group - Endeavour Crescent (Preston Road)
  • Rosmead (St Johns) Scout group - Rosmead St Johns Church, Rosmead Street
  • Endeavour Scout Group - Endeavour Learning and Skills Centre, Beverley Road

Additionally, we have started running the Scouting programme in Northcott School within the City too. This enable s the young people at the school to take part in Scouting during normal school time on a Friday afternoon. Led by volunteer Sharon Smith, who is also a volunteer at one of our existing groups, the young people, teachers and parent s are thoroughly enjoying the new experiences available to them through this opportunity.

With twenty four groups across the city now, Scouting in Hull is certainly relevant in today's society. We are growing and with this, we are able to offer more opportunities to more young people across the city.
